New wave of protests in Georgia: about 40 people detained
During the protest at the entrance to the Georgian parliament, 37 people were detained –they are accused of hooliganism and disobedience to the police, according to a statement on the website of the Georgian Ministry of Internal Affairs.
According to police, six people were injured – four protesters and two police officers. They have already been examined in hospitals.

The ministry did not specify the names of those detained. According to disseminated information, among the detainees is one of the leaders of the youth movement "Shame" Giga Makarashvli, as well as activists Dmitry Bidzinashvili, Beka Basilaya and Giorgi Rurua, reports Sputnik Georgia.

Protests in Georgia: what is happening
The protest has not stopped in Tbilisi since November 14, since parliament failed amendments on the transition from a mixed to proportional (according to party lists) system of parliamentary elections since 2020. The protesters demand the resignation of the government and the calling of early parliamentary elections using a proportional system.
On Sunday evening, tents were pitched at all entrances to parliament, and on Monday morning, deputies from the ruling party were not allowed into the building. The organizers of the action, including opposition leaders, were repeatedly called upon to stop picketing parliament, but they refused to disperse.

As a result, the forces of the Department for Special Assignments of the Ministry of Internal Affairs were involved. The protesters were forced out onto Rustaveli Avenue, where they continue to rally. All roads around parliament are open to traffic, but clashes occur periodically.
